Song of the Day: Little Child, Running Wild

http://www.last.fm/music/Curtis+Mayfield
Has Curtis Mayfield been featured on Unsung yet? Because he truly is.  His reign in the music industry happened before my time, but I can remember being a child in the 90s and hearing this song along with his other hits in my house.  I haven't put together my top 10 list of favorite songs of all time, but Little Child, Running Wild would definitely be included.

Hair of the day: Iffy twistout

Second day twistouts are always a little sketchy...

Yesterday's Hair: Homemade Twistout

This was my Alvin Ailey hair.  We were rushing out of the house so I barely did anything to it.  I liked using my shea butter and it made my hair very moisturized.  Perhaps a little too moisturized.  I did bigger twists on the top so those had less definition.  Anyways, I was satisfied.  Video on the way.

My Alvin Ailey Experience

My family and I attended the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater performance downtown last night and it was awesome! Seeing them was on my imaginary bucket list so I'm glad I went. We saw them perform "Grace", "Minus 16", and "Revelations".  My favorite dance was by far the Fix me, Jesus part in Revelations. It was fun trying to figure out the different stories within the dances.  They were all super fit and flexible (jealousss). At one point, they went in the audience and found random people to bring on stage and dance with.  It was very cool and the music was pretty great as well. I advise everyone to check when they'll be in your city so you can experience it too.  I'll put a video below of the dance I enjoyed most.  This is an older performance but you'll get the point.  The rest are pics I took while we were there.

Preview of my hair..check out the next post!

Hair of the Day: Homemade twists

I twisted my hair up yesterday and I used my homemade Shea Butter mixture on each twist.  This is the first time I'm using it as a styler so I hope it comes out nice.  It made my hair a little "heavy", but I still like the overall outcome.  I also did a little dusting to make the ends of my twists neater.   I used hair pins to pin the twists down in the front.

YouTube Special: Detangling With a Pick

Here's a video of how I detangle my hair with a pick!  I made this the night before I wore my fro last Sunday, so this is what lead to that style. Using a pick works wonders for me because its super quick and easy.  Enjoy!

Hair of the Day: Wash-n-Go

I've been a little behind in posting my daily hair dos but this week has been very uneventful.  Besides the fact that I haven't been feeling well physically, I really haven't been feeling the urge to do anything fancy to my hair.  So this week has been filled with wash and go's.  My favorite past time never fails!  My wash and go consists of co-washing with TreSemme Naturals, then using Shea Moisture Curl and Style Milk as a leave in.
